Visit by a Chinese Delegation to JSW Facilities and Industry Partners

On April 24, 2026, the “Budryk” Coal Mine hosted a working visit by the ICE-CMM delegation from China, focused on exchanging experiences regarding modern methane drainage technologies and safety in hard coal mining operations.

The delegation represented Shanxi Gowin Construction Technology of Coalbed Gas Co., Ltd., a company specializing in directional drilling, methane drainage, and gas management technologies in coal mines.

The meeting was attended by representatives of ICE-CMM Poland: JSW S.A., PGG S.A., PKW S.A., PIG-PIB, and AGH. During the visit, current solutions were presented regarding methane drainage, work organization, and the management of natural hazards in deep mining conditions. The “Budryk” Coal Mine is one of JSW’s key facilities engaged in deep mining, where issues of safety and effective methane management are of particular importance.

The meeting served as a platform for discussing the application of directional drilling technologies, methane extraction systems, and the possibilities for adapting them to conditions in Polish mines. The exchange of experiences covered both technical and organizational aspects, including mining planning and the integration of ventilation systems. During the meeting, the objectives of the METH2GEN project implemented by JSW at the “Budryk” Coal Mine were discussed. The EU-co-funded project is specifically aimed at implementing directional drilling in JSW S.A. mines.

The meeting represents another step in building ICE-CMM Poland’s international cooperation in the field of modern mining technologies and methane emission reduction, as part of efforts to improve operational efficiency and safety.
