ICE-CMM representatives at the International Scientific and Technical Conference: Mining Natural Hazards

The XXX Jubilee International Scientific and Technical Conference of the Mining Natural Hazards was held on 14-16.11.2023.

During the session dedicated to the Centre of Excellence for Coal Mine Methane, members of ICE-CMM Poland presented : Report on methane emissions from Polish coal mines; Changes in EU legal regulations on methane emission reduction and how they affect the process of mine decommissioning in Poland; Modelling methane intake from post-mining goafs to reduce methane emissions to the atmosphere; Assessment of the impact of uncertainty in measuring the volume of methane discharged through a ventilation shaft on the volume of emissions to the atmosphere; The future, development and innovations in methane drainage in Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa mines and Challenges of the Methane Emission Reduction Programme. Michał Drabik, representing the Expert Group on Coal Mine Methane and a Just Transition from UNECE, was a guest at the Conference, and together with Piotr Kasza presented a speech entitled The Activities of ICE-CMM Poland and the UNECE Expert Group in the Area of Energy Transition.
