The most interesting, inventive and effective projects aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the Polish economy were awarded for the first time in the Ranking of Decarbonization Initiatives. The winners were announced during the 13th edition of the European Economic Congress (EEC) and the 6th European Tech and Start-up Days in Katowice.
The Ranking of Decarbonisation Initiatives is part of a project entitled "The Green Index". It is dedicated to those who actively participate in the green transformation of the Polish economy. It presents the most interesting, ingenious and effective measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The "Green Index" project was initiated by the editorial staff of the WNP.PL portal together with the strategic partner of both the website and the Ranking of Decarbonization Initiatives by Ciech.
One of the winners was Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa S.A. in connection with the commissioned methane-fired engines in August 2020 in KWK "Knurów-Szczygłowice".
The investment is part of the Economic Methane Use Program, which when fully implemented, will reduce methane emissions to the atmosphere by approximately 100 million m3 per year.
