‘Natural hazards as a barrier to increased mining?’- discussion with JSW

The XXIX International Scientific and Technical Conference on Mining Natural Hazards, entitled "Natural hazards as a barrier to increased mining?", was held on 8-10.10.2022 in Jaworze. 
The conference was organised by the Central Mining Institute (GIG) together with the Association of Mining Engineers and Technicians (SITG) and the Katowice Branch of the Polish Academy of Sciences Mining Commission (PAN). The President of the State Mining Authority (WUG), Adam Mirek, Ph.D., took the event under his patronage.

The conference was divided into six thematic blocks:

  1. Rock burst hazard,
  2. Seismic hazards, 
  3. Aerological hazards
  4. Monitoring of mechanical support structures, 
  5. Stability of mine excavations,
  6. Session of The International Centres of Excellence on Coal Mine Methane.

Artur Badylak, Director of the Methane Drainage and Management Department of JSW S.A., presented a lecture on "New projects implemented at JSW SA in cooperation with ICE-CMM members" as part of the session of the Centre of Excellence in Coal Mine Methane.
Articles submitted to the Conference were published in the Journal of Sustainable Mining and the Mining Review.
