On June 7, 2022, a technical meeting on the methane regulation was organized by the Florence School of Regulation in Brussels.
The meeting was divided into 4 thematic sessions:
- Definitions and scope of operation of the regulation,
- Monitoring and reporting of methane emissions from active underground coal mines,
- Reduction of methane emissions from active underground coal mines,
- Methane emissions from abandoned coal mines.
With regard to the issues raised and the positions presented in the discussion, the European Commission and the FSR declared their readiness for further dialogue in order to work out an ambitious, but acceptable to the industry, proposal for a regulation.
The meeting was attended, among others, by representatives of the European Commission, the Ministry of State Assets, AGH, EURACOAL, IMEO and other organizations. Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa was represented by Director Artur Badylak.
